·       Soil and pot: Use a fast-draining cactus mix in a container with drainage holes. Add pumice or perlite if the mix retains moisture for too long. Avoid heavy potting soil and oversized pots that stay wet.

·       Temperature: Protect from frost and prolonged cold rain. Bring outdoor containers into a sheltered, frost-free location before freezing weather. Keep away from cold window glass and strong heating drafts.

·       Winter rest: Provide a bright, cooler location, ideally around 50–59°F (10–15°C). Reduce watering sharply while growth slows; a cool, dormant plant should remain mostly dry.
